about

Pygmalion is an early Tinnitis recording made without multitrack technology. Recorded directly onto an audio cassette in MC Tourettes' dining room in 2005, this is inspired in part by Kraftwerk's "Hall of Mirrors (1977), and an attempt at Kraftwerk's deadpan vocal delivery is made here. Written in 2002.

lyrics

I drew an image of a woman
With stunning beauty in her face
And fell in love with her likeness
Unable to break away my gaze

I am the artist who became self-tortured
Captivated by my namesake portrait

Once she was only a part of me
But she's taken on a life of her own
The Venus who had no possibility
Without my work to make her known

I am the artist who became self-tortured
Captivated by my namesake portrait
I am the artist who became self-tortured
Captivated by my namesake portrait

Rendered in intricate detail
She's rendered me a helpless man
I've been incomplete without my female
I'm her work of art though I don't understand

I am the artist who became self-tortured
Captivated by my namesake portrait
I am the artist who became self-tortured
Captivated by my namesake portrait

Am I in charge of my creation
Or has she taken charge of me?
The mind, the soul, no rationalization
Of concepts that the eye can't see

I am the artist who became self-tortured
Captivated by my namesake portrait
I am the artist who became self-tortured
Captivated by my namesake portrait

The artist is drawn by his drawing
And likewise, thus closing a circuit
In his soul the paradox is gnawing
He's torn as he finds no way to work it

I am the artist who became self-tortured
Captivated by my namesake portrait
